Anguish

(I thought I saw something about trees when I wrote the earlier Muse #57)

Dear hearts I see
Are you aware
Years have passed
No change
Disappointment abounds
Wake up
Cleanse yourself
Become like new
Redeemers rise up

Holding On

As a tree stands tall and proud
I receive that strength each day
like a carefree leaf blown by the wind
to travel to and fro living life as I so desire

Standing tall
Holding tight to my beliefs
As you hold onto your roots deep in the soil
Unmovable
yet growing
Spreading like wildfire

Living
Breathing
Changing
Growing

As a tumultuous wind blows
Leaves shake up down and all around
Applauding you
Grateful for the shade the cool breeze
and the strength to keep it together

Longing

Photo courtesy of Pixabay by Pexels

An anniversary of not having an anniversary
Missing something that has long departed
Be it your father, your mother, sibling or friend
Something that once was but is no longer or never was
An anniversary of longing, bittersweet

What Awaits

I’ve traveled 125 miles
With nothing in sight
Finally reached my destination
Haven’t been home in years
Everything has changed but
Some things remain the same
I’m still on the outside looking in
Giving it one last shot
To fit in the box or
Ride with the wind

In the Beginning

Zen
I find my peace in meditation and prayer
New life soon approaching
Happiness awaits Blessed day
My peace shall be your peace
To commune with the spirits
And find that place of calm
And welcome you as one with the world

Taking Flight

The Sunday Muse #54

Life is a balancing act as fragile as a baby bird
At time sending me into spirals as black as a crow
And other times granting me a glimmer of light

Surviving life on the edge then finding the courage
to step off the ledge and soar to new heights
reaching, discovering and attaining everything
that was once beyond my reach

No longer locked in darkness
chained without chains

Faith restored
strength regained
my voice being heard
self-awareness preserved

Restoration

Art by Regina

The Wednesday Muse #7

Years of misuse tossed here and there
bumps and bruises appear
A tear of the heart creates a chain reaction

Courage failing desire spent
peeking through a space that wasn’t here before
searching for a glimpse of what once was

Piecing together shards of spirit
thoughts and ideas
to regain a semblance of wholeness

Restoration of faith and strength
returned by the voice of self-preservation
that forges the heart

Star Gazing

Photo Courtesy of Pexels' Paul Basel
The Wednesday Muse #6

The brilliance of city lights out shines the stars at night
nothing to gaze upon, but tall buildings of cement and glass
light reflecting off of glass reflecting off of lights

The joy of country life where night skies are clear and stars are visible
to watch in wonder as lightning bugs flash in and out of darkness
bringing more appeal to the blackness of the sky

Once again the moon rises with hopes of illuminating the hue of blue to transform the city sky with a star or two to gaze and wish upon
