Jazzman

I dig deep within my soul
sharing the lost desires of
what once was.

Released from the hold
she had on me.

Yet aching to be held
once again in her loving
arms.

Soulful sounds drift through
my clinched fingers as I play
the ballad you loved so.

I despair in gazing above
my hat to glimpse the sight
of you in the crowd.

Will I survive this glimpse?

Better to dig deeper and
forego the glimpse and
remember what was, but
is now gone.

  1. Evocative...and that image of being afraid to look up and see who might be listening, just amazing.

  2. My favorite part is the glimpse and the lure and danger of it. His indecision and desire. Wonderful.
