I stand and wait
wondering who you are
Am I a captive
Your caress says no

It is a caress of ownership
Ownership and Love

Will I ever run as free
as the herd in the wild
These reins say no

As I gaze at you I sense that our desires are the same
Freedom to run and to feel the wind
on our backs as we release the pent-up energy
and the pressures of our life

Companions relying on one another for
a moment in time waiting to run wild

  1. Love the way you tell this story, the reserve and the trust coming through at the end.

  2. Yes, both horse and rider live for those moments when they run free and feel the wind..........

  3. Love that you wrote this from the perspective of the horse. Yes both the rider and the horse long for freedom. This a magnificent poem about freedom Regina!
