In the midday sun
I relish the glow
Thriving on your wetness
By evenings direct light
I curl and wither
Parched by the sun
My pot is drained
Drained of moisture
Weakened by your strength
To
let live or to banish
I reach to embrace
The cool feel of you
Clear
Liquid
Agua
Clear
Liquid
Agua
It is you alone
That I now desire

Love the way the day moves through this & the exhausted desire at the end.
ReplyDeleteThank you C. Sandlin.
DeleteThis photo reminds me, when my grandma was dying, of her long finger pointing to the glass of water on her bedside table.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry for your loss and I hope that there are other fond memories to warm your heart.
DeleteOh, I can feel this poem.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and pleading perspective of a flower. This is poignant and lovely Regina. 🌷
