No Shelter

Linking with The Sunday Muse #83

"After the Rain" by Cyril Rolando

As I stroll the spacious terrain of emptiness
That once was clustered with a myriad of greenery
I look around and weep at the vast amount of loss
to mankind and animals great and small.

Trapped by Sound

Photography by Sarolta Ban
View website HERE

The still of the morn
The call of a melodic tune
Brings creatures great and small
Subdued in the fog of daybreak
To rest reassured that perhaps they are safe

A picture of questions
What is this?
What’s that sound?
Are we indeed safe?

Ears alert eyes transfixed
Waiting in anticipation of what’s next
Paralyzed by a cacophony of rhythmic sounds

Will you help us?
Can you help us?
Help us please!

Beyond the Light

Photo Source Courtesy of Alastair Magnaldo

What is it that I see, could it be a playground?
No swings nor slides just ladders and ropes.
Brightly shines the ball of light, should I dare hope!

Where does it lead?  Up and Up some children go;
before me others dare to see the mystery.
They climb and hoist themselves up ropes and ladders.

Shall I too escape the sand and dunes of nothingness,
to be filled with the light of wondrous joy that
lifts us up and out of this despair.

I to shall follow the light of a new future that
SHINES BRIGHT.

Good Morning

Although withered by time
we commune in silence
seeking Grace and Mercy.

At peace with nature
searching for a tune
to cleanse the spirit.

Brighter Days

Transfixed by time of yesteryears
Attuned to the gray from black and white
Dreaming of color to brighten the way
Glimpsing a brighter future of beige and cream

Breakthrough

Wednesday Photo Prompt

Pollinated years ago, discarded and carried by the wind
Trapped beneath the streets paved by cement
Roots have sprouted and traveled near and far
Stems strengthened by rays of sunlight peeking through
Together we breakthrough and bask in the light of day
To rise higher and indulge in life before cement snuffs us out

Captured, yet Free

the butterfuly jar by lostinthisphotograph

My body has been captured
yet my spirit lives on.

I relish in the memories of
freedom and flight.

Soaring to heights unknown
my soul will forever travel to no end.

Jazzman

I dig deep within my soul
sharing the lost desires of
what once was.

Released from the hold
she had on me.

Yet aching to be held
once again in her loving
arms.

Soulful sounds drift through
my clinched fingers as I play
the ballad you loved so.

I despair in gazing above
my hat to glimpse the sight
of you in the crowd.

Will I survive this glimpse?

Better to dig deeper and
forego the glimpse and
remember what was, but
is now gone.

Into The Depths

Photo Artistry by Erik Johansson Master Photo-manipulation Artist

Gazing at the horizon,
I see a canvas of peace and calm
that evades me in this city of
constant noise and social media.

Longing for the serenity of
the wavering blue waters
that merge into the dock where I
contemplate my next move.

As if I were Jeannie, with the blink of an eye
I would be there as the dock greets the water.

Luciousness

Berry vines are so divine.

I think back to childhood memories
of my family and I traveling to
Bellville TX on Hempstead Highway
and stopping to pick berries.

Oh, the lusciousness of fresh pickings
and popping one right into my mouth.

Heaven, my mouth is now watering
for that sweet, sweet taste!

Call to Arms

This is a call to order!
Listen up Felines.
Our humans have lost their mines.

The generic brand food has got to go!
It either stops you up or have you running.
And, I don’t mean chasing a rat either!

Brandish your weapon felines!

Catching the Wave - Sevenling

Fierce and high, appearing
as a tunnel, it approaches
high and wide.

Jump, swim, or turn my back?
No matter, dive through
this circular funnel of energy.

Down I go beneath the tidal wave.

Parched, June 8 2019

Photography by Carlo Pautasso

In the midday sun
I relish the glow
Thriving on your wetness

By evenings direct light
I curl and wither
Parched by the sun

My pot is drained
Drained of moisture

Weakened by your strength
To let live or to banish
I reach to embrace
The cool feel of you
Clear
Liquid
Agua

It is you alone
That I now desire

Laughter: Ghostly Apparation

Art by Regina

Remember how you can draw a character with letters?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0bvq1ANNBo

Well, one day after I got out of the shower I wrote the
word boy on the bathroom mirror and I connected
the letters to make a boys’ head.

Well by the time I came out, of course the little boy had
vanished.  So, for the rest of the week, whenever my ex
husband showered the boy would appear.

After the 2nd day, when he exited the shower, he ran to
me all excited and said, “Gina, whenever I get out of the
shower a little boy keeps appearing in the mirror!

I was shocked and went to see, all the while trying
to contain my laughter; the young man had nearly
faded away.

Well, long story short, I showed him the trick and
it wasn’t so funny to him at that moment.  He thought
he was being visited by a child ghost…LOL.

Priceless!!!!  I could not stop laughing.

In my family, we dub priceless moments and laugh about
them at get togethers!

Partners

I stand and wait
wondering who you are
Am I a captive
Your caress says no

It is a caress of ownership
Ownership and Love

Will I ever run as free
as the herd in the wild
These reins say no

As I gaze at you I sense that our desires are the same
Freedom to run and to feel the wind
on our backs as we release the pent-up energy
and the pressures of our life

Companions relying on one another for
a moment in time waiting to run wild

Anguish

(I thought I saw something about trees when I wrote the earlier Muse #57)

Dear hearts I see
Are you aware
Years have passed
No change
Disappointment abounds
Wake up
Cleanse yourself
Become like new
Redeemers rise up

Holding On

As a tree stands tall and proud
I receive that strength each day
like a carefree leaf blown by the wind
to travel to and fro living life as I so desire

Standing tall
Holding tight to my beliefs
As you hold onto your roots deep in the soil
Unmovable
yet growing
Spreading like wildfire

Living
Breathing
Changing
Growing

As a tumultuous wind blows
Leaves shake up down and all around
Applauding you
Grateful for the shade the cool breeze
and the strength to keep it together

Longing

An anniversary of not having an anniversary
Missing something that has long departed
Be it your father, your mother, sibling or friend
Something that once was but is no longer or never was
An anniversary of longing, bittersweet

What Awaits

I’ve traveled 125 miles
With nothing in sight
Finally reached my destination
Haven’t been home in years
Everything has changed but
Some things remain the same
I’m still on the outside looking in
Giving it one last shot
To fit in the box or
Ride with the wind

Zen
I find my peace in meditation and prayer
New life soon approaching
Happiness awaits Blessed day
My peace shall be your peace
To commune with the spirits
And find that place of calm
And welcome you as one with the world

Taking Flight

The Sunday Muse #54

Life is a balancing act as fragile as a baby bird
At time sending me into spirals as black as a crow
And other times granting me a glimmer of light

Surviving life on the edge then finding the courage
to step off the ledge and soar to new heights
reaching, discovering and attaining everything
that was once beyond my reach

No longer locked in darkness
chained without chains

Faith restored
strength regained
my voice being heard
self-awareness preserved
